What is Forensic?

Forensic is dealing with the application of scientific knowledge to legal problems and legal proceedings as, for example, in forensic anthropology, forensic dentistry, forensic experts, forensic medicine (legal medicine), forensic pathology, and forensic science. Forensic science is used to investigate criminal cases involving a victim, such as assault, robbery, kidnapping, rape, murder and civil cases such as forgeries, fraud, or negligence. Forensics determines if laws or regulations were violated in marketing food and drinks, manufacturing of medicines, agricultural pesticide use, automobile emission compliance, drinking water purity, and monitoring international secret nuclear weapons program.The common applications of forensic are :

• Fingerprint
• Disaster Victim Identification
• DNA

Subdivisions of Forensic Science

There are various subdivisions of forensic sciences, they are:

• Forensic archeology - Forensic archaeology is the application of a combination of archaeological techniques and forensic science, typically in law enforcement.

• Forensic biology - Forensic biology is the application of biology to law enforcement.Most common samples obtained are blood, hair, and semen. DNA can be extracted from any of these samples and used for comparative analysis.

• Forensic economics - Forensic Economics specializes in assessing damages arising out of securities litigation cases and complex business disputes, and in valuations of securities and business. It also is the interpretation of economic damage evidence to include present day calculations of lost earnings and benefits, the lost value of a business, lost business profits, lost value of household service, replacement labour costs and future medical care costs.

• Forensic engineering - Forensic engineering is the investigation of materials, products, structures or components that fail or do not operate/function as intended, causing personal injury or damage to property. The consequences of failure are dealt by the law of product liability. The investigation is to locate cause or causes of failure with a view to improve performance or life of a component, or to assist a court in determining the facts of an accident.

• Forensic epistemology - Forensic epistemology deals with philosophical knowledge in a legal setting, typically for understanding behavior of states.

• Forensic linguistic - Forensic linguistics deals with anything in the legal system that requires linguistic expertise.

• Forensic psychology - Forensic psychology is the study of the mind of an individual, using forensic methods. Usually it determines the circumstances behind a criminal's behavior.

• Forensic serology - Forensic serology is the application of the study of blood, semen, saliva and other body fluids to legal matters.

• Forensic anthropology - Forensic anthropology is the application of physical anthropology in a legal setting, usually for the recovery and identification of skeletonized human remains.

• Forensic computing or digital forensics - Digital forensics is the application of proven scientific methods and techniques in order to recover data from electronic / digital media. DF specialist work in the field as well as in the lab.

• Forensic criminalization - Criminalities the application of various sciences to answer questions relating to examination and comparison of biological evidence, trace evidence, impression evidence (such as fingerprints, footwear impressions, and tire tracks), controlled substances, ballistics (firearm examination), and other evidence in criminal investigations. Typically, evidence is processed in a crime lab.

• Forensic entomology - Forensic entomology deals with the examination of insects in, on, and around human remains to assist in determination of time or location of death. It is also possible to determine if the body was moved after death.

• Forensic geology - Forensic geology deals with trace evidence in the form of soils, minerals and petroleums.

• Forensic interviewing - Forensic Interviewing is a method of communicating designed to elicit information and evidence.

• Forensic meteorology - Forensic meteorology is a site specific analysis of past weather conditions for a point of loss.

• Forensic odontology - Forensic odontology is the study of the uniqueness of dentition better known as the study of teeth.

• Forensic pathology - Forensic pathology is a field in which the principles of medicine and pathology are applied to determine a cause of death or injury in the context of a legal inquiry.

• Forensic toxicology - Forensic toxicology is the study of the effect of drugs and poisons on/in the human body.

How does forensic identification work?

Any type of organism can be identified by examination of DNA sequences unique to that species. Identifying individuals within a species is less precise at this time, although when DNA sequencing technologies progress farther, direct comparison of very large DNA segments, and possibly even whole genomes, will become feasible and practical and will allow precise individual identification.
To identify individuals, forensic scientists scan 13 DNA regions that vary from person to person and use the data to create a DNA profile of that individual (sometimes called a DNA fingerprint). There is an extremely small chance that another person has the same DNA profile for a particular set of regions.

Describe how the information and hands-on on the skills you have learned in this course are like or unlike anything or anyway you have learned before?

This course have likely to give experience and information on how to create a web page on our own. It gives an uncomparison project since this is the first time we are dealing with latest updates in IT. The softwares used are completely different and unique to me which can create a web page in handy.

How do this information and hands-on skills u have learned in this course compliment than what you have learned in other courses and what you will need to know for the real business world?

This information and hands-on skills learned in this course was likely to compliment more compared than other courses simply to getbecause it is a basic knowledge to IT. This information will defintely be very useful in our real bussiness world to be up to date and informative all the time.

Describe the process you went through to complete this e-commerce?

The process of completing this e-commerce started with the download of the necessary softwares such as Dreamweaver,Photoshop, and Flash Player. Then we collected the information basic on our topic through the internet. With the basic knowledge, the tutorials were very useful.The steps were followed accordingly and the web page was completed succesfully.

What did you learn yourself in the process of completing this course?

While completing this course, we learnt on how to be manage time to complete a course in a short period. Besides that we learnt on how to independently create a web page and to co-operate among ourselves and divide our work equally.

Describe the process you went through to complete this Digital Imaging project.

The process we went through was croping, removing unwanted image and restoring damaged image. The photoshop tutorial were followed accordingly. The images was taken from the related internet. The images were saved under jpg format and psd format.

What did you learn about yourself in the process of completing this project?

We learnt how we can create a web page independently. We also learnt about co-operation and time management.

Include where you got ideas, how you explored the subject, what problems you encountered, and what revision strategies you used.

We got our ideas of creating a web page from our basic interest in Forensic. Besides that it is also related to our future career. We explored the subject by reference from lecturer's tutorials and various sites related to forensic. The only problem we encountered was time. We were lack of time due to other purposes. We planned ealier on how to distribute the work and the tutorials to save the time. Then we combined our parts together to establish a web site.

What new knowledge did you gain and how did you gain it?

We learned how to create a web page using simple softwares such as dreamweaver, photoshop and flash player. We obtained the information from our lecturer and friends.

What are the key concepts you have learned in the process of completing this project?

We learnt how to make web page concisely and precisely. We also learnt what is group work and time management.

How can you apply this information?

This information can be applied now and in future. We can also teach others.

What ability does this sample of your work show?

The work shows the team work and effort shown to create our own web page confidentally.
